2018 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

Posted about 5 years ago by Helen Horton, BSN, RN

Gracie Gaskin

Congratulations to CCBNC member, Gracie Gaskin for being selected as the 2018 recipient of the  Patricia Ann Daniel Ruffin Scholarship for Community Service at the 28th Annual Education-Lecture Lunchion on December 1, 2018.

Nursing is a second career for Gracie.  As a Social Worker, she felt inspired to become a nurse after feeling helpless when repeatedly observing the disparities in health services for both her family and vulnerable client population. She enrolled in the Associate's Degree in Nursing program at Wake Technical Community College.  As a student she became a member of CCBNC and has been a vital member since.

Gracie decided to complete her RN to BSN studies by choosing an HBCU.  She is currently enrolled in Winston-Salem State University which was chosen because of their motto - "Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve" which represents the reason she chose to become a nurse.

Congratulations Gracie; we are so proud of you!
